PM KISAN – The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a central sector project fully supported by the Government of India. The initiative provides an annual financial support of Rs.6,000 to all farming families. The fee is paid in quarterly installments of Rs.2,000 each.

The scheme was launched in December 2018 with the goal of increasing the income of small and marginal farmers (SMFs) and supplementing their financial needs in procuring various inputs to ensure proper crop health and appropriate yields, in line with the estimated farm income at the end of each crop cycle.

e KYC for Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi PM Kisan

PM Kisan e KYC – The e KYC service is required to authenticate the identity of recipients under the PM Kisan yojana scheme. Farmers can complete their Know Your Customer (KYC) procedure online, ensuring that they meet eligibility requirements and get timely financial aid payouts.

Modes of the PM KISAN e KYC

There are three kinds of e KYC available to farmers under the PM KISAN Yojana scheme.

1) OTP Based e KYC (available on PM KISAN Portal and Mobile App)
2) Biometric based e KYC (available at Common Service Centres (CSCs) and
State Seva Kendra (SSKs))
3)Face authentication-based e KYC (available on PM KISAN Mobile app which
is used by millions of farmers)

OTP Based e KYC

To use OTP-based e KYC, farmers must have an active mobile number linked to their Aadhaar. To do this, follow the instructions below:

1) Visit the PM KISAN portal (https://pmkisan.gov.in/)
2) Click on e KYC (on the top right corner of the website)
3) Enter your Aadhaar number and complete your eKYC after submitting
your OTP

Biometric based e KYC

Over 4 lakh Common Service Centers and State Seva Kendras nationwide now offer doorstep services to farmers. To do this, follow the instructions below:

1) Visit your nearest CSC/SSK with your Aadhaar Card and Aadhaar linked
mobile number
2) The CSC/SSK operator will assist the farmer in performing biometric
authentication using Aadhaar-based verification
3) The convenience fee is Rs. 15 for eKYC

e KYC through Face-authentication

The farmer can also complete the e KYC on their cellphone at their leisure. This is the most innovative and convenient method of completing e KYC. The steps are outlined below.

1) Download the PM KISAN mobile app and Aadhaar Face RD app from the
Google Play Store
2) Open the app and login through your PM-KISAN registered mobile
number
3) Land on the beneficiary status page
4) If e KYC status is “No”, click on the e KYC, then enter your Aadhaar
number and give your consent to scan your face
5) After successfully scanning your face, eKYC is completed

How to apply for PM KISAN

Since its inception, PM KISAN has grown to become one of India’s greatest farmer welfare initiatives, providing direct income support to over 9 crore farmers nationwide. Eligible farmers can register for PM KISAN online through the official PM-KISAN Portal or contact their nearest Common Service Centre (CSC). To enable farmers get benefits more easily, the scheme offers amenities such as beneficiary status tracking, e-KYC services, grievance redressal, and Farmer ID registration support.

Eligibility requirements

To get financial support, farmers must meet the qualifying requirements set out in the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) Scheme. The plan is primarily aimed at qualifying landholding farmer families with cultivable land registered in their names. However, certain kinds of individuals and farmer families are not eligible for payments under the system, according to government standards.

Who is Eligible?

All landholding farmer families with cultivable land documented in the land registry of the relevant state or union territory are eligible for benefits under the PM KISAN scheme.

A farmer family, as defined in the scheme, is a family consisting of a husband, wife, and minor children who own cultivable land according to the land records of the relevant state or union territory.

The system applies to all qualified landholding farmer families, regardless of the size of their holdings.

The reward is awarded subject to the verification of land records and the fulfillment of all scheme requirements.

In cases of inheritance due to the death of a landowner, eligible successor families may continue to receive benefits, subject to land record verification and compliance with scheme requirements.

Online Registration through PM KISAN Portal

Eligible farmers can apply online for the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana using the official PM-KISAN Portal.

Visit the PM-KISAN website and select the “New Farmer Registration” option from the homepage.

Enter your Aadhaar number and cellphone number, then select the state from the selection list.

Complete the OTP-based verification process before proceeding to the PM-KISAN registration form.

Select whether you want to register as a rural or urban farmer.

Fill out the needed information in the application form.

Review all of the information on the PM KISAN application form and submit the registration request.

Following successful submission, a registration reference number will be assigned for future tracking.

The application will be validated by the relevant authorities based on land records and the qualifying criteria specified in the scheme.

Following successful verification and approval, qualified farmers will receive PM-KISAN payments directly into their bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

Approved continuance of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM KISAN) Scheme

The Union Cabinet has approved the continuance of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme from 2026-27 to 2030-31. Addressing the media, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishanw stated that a total financial investment of 3.15 lakh crore rupees has been allocated for this Scheme over the course of five years. Mr Vaishnaw stated that the clearance reiterates the government’s resolve that farmer success is the foundation of national wealth. He stated that the PM KISAN Scheme provides timely and transparent income support to eligible farmer households via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

PM KISAN 23 installment

Mr Vaishnaw stated that more than 4.47 lakh crore rupees have been deposited straight into farmers’ bank accounts in 23 installments thus far. He stated that the help offered by PM KISAN has allowed farmers to make timely investments in seeds, fertilizers, irrigation, agricultural machinery, and other agricultural needs.
